Jilly Lagasse’s talent and passion for food was apparent from quite an early age. Recognizing her natural talent in the kitchen, her father gifted her with a set of Chefs Whites and allowed her to start helping in the Pastry and Dessert Department in one of his restaurants. This led to her assisting him on book tours, cooking events and even working alongside him on his “Emeril’s Creole Christmas” cookbook.
In 2004, she was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, which in turn changed everything she knew about food and cooking. Working with her sister Jessie as The Lagasse Girls, together they penned 2 gluten free cookbooks inspired by the food they grew up eating and loving, simply made in a new way. Her passion for raising awareness for this auto-immune disease is at the very heartbeat of her career, working with such programs as The NFCA, Children's National Hospital and The Celiac Disease Foundation. As Jilly currently works on her solo project she splits her time between New Orleans and New York doing special cooking events and gluten-free pop-ups. An apron is always packed and on hand and at the ready!
